Full Diploma
To obtain the Diploma, students must satisfy the curricular requirements of six IB subjects taken concurrently
in the last two years of high school. These subjects must include a primary or literary language (at AIS/D, English A1),
a second language, a social science, mathematics, science, and an options course (an arts subject or an additional
social science, language, or science). Three of the subjects are taken at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard
Level (SL). Most of these subjects entail study over two years. Students must also complete the Theory of
Knowledge course, submit an Extended Essay and engage in Creativity, Action and Service activities. IB assessment
is varied, authentic, and takes place over the entire course of IB instruction. It culminats in a series of examinations.

IB Certificates
Students who do not wish to take on the heavy burden of the Diploma program may still participate in the IB community as Certificate candidates. Any student who enrolls in an IB subject and meets its external requirements may obtain an IB Certificate in that subject. Many universities in North America award college credit for IB Certificates.
