AIS/D
encourages the families of its students to use and enjoy the
resources of the
school library. While the library’s first
mission is to serve the students of the school, the library
is also a rich resource for parents and younger siblings.
Parents
are entitled to a library account and encouraged to obtain
an account at the check out desk on the ground floor. The
account allows you to borrow books and back issues of magazines,
as
well as a select group of videos.
The library subscribes to
a number of databases. The databases include newspapers,
magazines, health information, and other
resources and
may be used by the entire AIS/D community. The databases
can be accessed from computers at home as well as at school.
If you wish
to use these
resources, please stop by the library to obtain log-ins
and passwords.
AIS/D campus memberships may
be purchased by individuals or by families who are in Bangladesh
with a company
or
diplomatic mission
that would
normally pay for a child’s tuition at the school
but who have no school-aged children. Campus membership
is $160 USD
for an individual,
$550 USD
for a family, and includes use of the library, pool,
and sports facility. In order to check books
out of the library an
additional $200 USD refundable deposit must be posted.
For information about
campus memberships, please contact Peter
Janda, Human Resource Officer or Padmaja Menon,

The check out period for books is two weeks,
and books may be renewed. The check out period for videos
is also two weeks.
If a book you want is already checked out,
ask to have it reserved. Then, when the book is returned, the
library staff will hold it and send you a note so
you know it is available.
Parents are welcome to use the library during
regular hours including Tuesday evenings until 7:00 pm and
on Friday and Saturdays from 10:00 am until
2:00 pm.
Although students have first priority using library
computers during the school day, parents are welcome to use
the computers when
they are not needed by students.
