Student Support Services

Student Support Services plays a key role in ensuring that all AISD students have a fair opportunity to achieve their full developmental and academic potential. Through this program, the school provides a wide-range of services to students who possess learning differences and to students who are experiencing social and emotional difficulties. The program also provides academic English language support for those students who are non-native speakers of English who require academic and social support to develop English language fluency. AISD is an inclusionary school, and consequently, services are aligned as much as possible with the student’s regular classroom environment.

Our educational community of staff, parents and students is prepared to serve students with intellectual, physical, social, emotional, linguistic and other special learning characteristics, mirroring the multi-faceted world in which we live. Accommodations are presented within a child-centered curriculum in order to meet a variety of learning needs. All three divisions at AISD use a collaborative approach when identifying and meeting the needs of students. We have the training and resources to teach many students needing: English for Academic Purposes, interpersonal and social language skills, and those with learning differences. We promote curricular integration and student engagement, and hold ourselves accountable for differentiating instruction and co-teaching with colleagues to best address each child’s learning style.

The Student Support Services Program consists of the following components:
  • Counseling
  • English as a Second Language
  • Health Services
