Dispositions
Dispositions are overarching characteristics and attitudes that we strive for with all of our students. In addition, the school has adopted the IBO's Learner Profile, which shares many similarities with the AISD Dispositions.
The following dispositions are woven into our units of study and lesson plans:
DISPOSITION 1: OPEN-MINDED
Learners actively look beyond the expected and seek a range of alternative options, explanations and perspectives outside of and within their own religious, cultural, and country backgrounds.
DISPOSITION 2: CURIOUS
Learners actively inquire, ask questions, pose problems, take risks, probe anomalies, seek solutions, explore options and generate alternatives.
DISPOSITION 3: REFLECTIVE
Learners actively regulate, evaluate and direct their own thinking and their personal performance, increasing their understanding and redirecting their actions accordingly.
DISPOSTION 4: EMPATHETIC
Learners actively display sensitivity and respect towards the situation of others, demonstrating acceptance and willingness to identify with others’ feelings, and modifying their views and actions accordingly.
DISPOSITION 5: COLLABORATIVE
Learners actively participate in team efforts, effectively adapting to different roles, taking into account the needs and contributions of others, modifying their own approaches in the interests of achieving a common goal, and sharing responsibility for the outcome.
DISPOSITION 6: PERSEVERING
Learners consistently demonstrate determination and persistence in the face of obstacles and barriers.
