Middle School Philosophy

Middle School students are experiencing significant physical, social and emotional changes associated with their transition from childhood to adolescence. The AIS/D Middle School recognizes these changes and is committed to providing an appropriate learning environment that supports and nurtures the development of young adolescents. An appropriate learning environment at the AIS/Dhaka Middle School promotes the development of close trusting relationships among students, parents and educators which results in a positive climate that supports the intellectual development and personal growth of members of our school community.

As a Middle School community, we believe that our school’s mission and philosophy is best realized when our Middle School students

  • pursue a broad and balanced curriculum that is challenging, integrative and exploratory;
  • receive the support and guidance necessary to reach their personal potential and achieve success;
  • participate in inclusive and challenging experiences that accommodate their unique abilities;
  • develop learning strategies and study skills that emphasize reflective thought and progression toward the outcome of independent learning;
  • work to develop the capabilities for critical and creative thought and effective communication;
  • explore knowledge and ideas from multiple perspectives in order to develop intercultural awareness and an understanding of the world around them;
  • value the importance of serving others locally and globally, particularly those who are less fortunate;
  • have access to co-curricular opportunities in a safe environment that promote participation, a sense of belonging and a healthy lifestyle.
