Overview
With a book collection of 36,000 volumes including a special collection on Bangladesh, reference collection and 3,000 videos and DVDs, this is the largest English language library in Bangladesh. The annual library budget provides for collection development that supports the AIS/D curriculum, recreational reading and independent research of library patrons. Both the elementary and ms/hs librarians are committed to helping faculty integrate information library skills into the various curricula. How can we help?
The library receives magazines and newspapers both in English and Bangla. Subscriptions to many databases include Atomic Learning, and EBSCO, which contains current and back issues of hundreds of journals and other research materials.
DESTINY is the automated library catalogue and can be accessed online through the library website. Both libraries provide free access to the Internet. Middle and high school classes use the library on an as needed basis.
AIS/D parents and school staff are entitled to free library memberships and borrowing privileges. Each weekend the library welcomes families and provides a community library atmosphere with puzzles, simple games, and art supplies for children and their families.
Recreational reading is supported through a reader’s advisory service and frequent contests/promotions.
